2013 4th of July Celebration

Schedule of Events...

Tuesday, July 2nd...

7p - Patriotic Concert with The Rockford Concert Band at the Sinnissippi Park Music Shell.

Wednesday July 3rd...

1p - The Radio Disney Road Crew Show at the Sinnissippi Park Music Shell.

3p - Flag Retirement Ceremony at the Symbol Sculpture in Sinnissippi Gardens along the bike path. 

Thursday, July 4th...

7a - MELD Classic 8k Run (2 mile run begins at 7:05a, 1 mile walk at 8:30a).  All events begin on Madison St. under the Jefferson St. bridge near The Trolley Station. *donation to MELD to enter - contact Mike Broski at 815-378-1045.

8:30a - Patriotic Breakfast at the Sinnissippi Park Music Shell, sponsored by the Rockford 4th of July Committee and Stone Eagle Tavern.  Free continental breakfast for the first 1,000 attendees.  Keynote speaker Rockford Mayor Larry Morrisey.

Noon - Meet Great Human Beings and get your picture taken, corner of State and Main.

3p - Local Choir Competition in Davis Park.*

6:30p - Carl Cole musical entertainment at S. Wyman and Elm St.

6:50p - Motorcycle parade begins along the parade route.

7p - Silver Creek Band performs in Davis Park.*

7p - The Rockford 4th of July parade officially kicks off at 7th St. and 6th Ave. (see route below).  The parade is sponsored in part by Harris BMO Bank and televised live on WTVO-17.

9:30p - The SkyConcert Fireworks Show begins over downtown Rockford.  The show is synchronized to music broadcast over B103-fm radio (bring your radio to listen) and televised live over WTVO-17.  Sponsored in part by the Rockford 4th of July Committee, Harris Bank BMO, B103-fm radio and WTVO-17.*

*The Davis Park premium fireworks viewing and entertainment area box office opens at 3p.  There is a $6 admission charge, please bring your own lawn chairs & radio.  No pets, coolers, packaged food or sparklers allowed.  Food and beverages are available for purchase in Davis Park.

    The parade forms at 7th St. and 6th Ave., starts at 7pm and is scheduled to follow this route...


    North on 7th St. to E. State St.
    Turn West on State St. to Wyman St.
    Turn South on Wyman St.
    Continues South to the disband area at S. Main and Cedar Streets
    Parade vehicles may continue South on Main St.
    Buses and other transport vehicles may pick up parade participants South of the railroad trestle on S. Main St.

    Parade Rules...

    • No throwing of any objects including candy or political propaganda along the parade route will be permitted.
    • An American flag must be displayed on or in your parade unit. Your parade unit MUST be of a PATRIOTIC nature! Occult or non-patriotic units will not be allowed in this parade!!
    • No signs will be allowed to be carried or displayed as part of your parade unit that insults, belittles or embarrasses any individual or organization.
    • No active political campaigning will be allowed in any division other than the division that is termed “Political Division.”
    • Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts are encouraged to be in full uniform with American flags as part of their unit.
    • There is a $100.00 entry fee for all businesses and political candidates not currently in office.

    • Ingersoll Park at S. Madison
    • Parking Lot Across from Metro Centre on So. Main St
    • Davis Park (South end) near the railroad tracks.
    • Wyman Street near Subway
    • Front of Trolley Station, North Madison St.

      All events are subject to change or cancellation without prior notice.  Parade and event participation is subject to the sole discretion of the Rockford 4th of July Civic Committee.
